COP6 - Moscow, Russian Federation, 13-18 October 2014
The sixth session of the Conference of the Parties (COP6) to the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC) takes place 13-18 October in Moscow, Russian Federation.
COP5 - Seoul, Korea, 12-17 November 2012
The main decisions at COP5 included adopting new recommendations on tobacco taxes and prices, and agreeing to set up a working group on sustinable implementation of the FCTC.
COP-4 ended with major achievements for public health, despite unprecedented efforts by the tobacco industry to block any treaty progress.
COP3 - Durban, South Africa, 17-22 November 2008
COP3 decided to adopt strong guidelines on a comprehensive ban on tobacco advertising, promotion and sponsorship, and also planned to adopt strong guidelines on using large, pictorial and effective tobacco warnings.
COP2 adopted guidelines on protection from exposure to tobacco smoke (Article 8), and decided to initiate or continue work on five other guidelines. It also decided to establish an Intergovernmental Negotiating Body on a Protocol on Illicit Trade in Tobacco Products.
COP1 - Geneva Switzerland, 6-17 February 2006
At the end of COP1, the Convention had entered into force for 113 Parties. During this session, the Rules of Procedure and Financial Rules for the Conference of the Parties were adopted by consensus.
