Mauritius bans tobacco displays

Mauritius has adopted a ban on tobacco product displays at point-of-sale areas, except duty-free shops in airports.

Although 2009 tobacco regulations banned the display of tobacco products, the Consumer Protection Act allowed displays at point-of-sale areas.

President of Tobacco control watchdog group ViSa Deowan Mohee says that after lobbying hard for many years to get this ban in place, the group will now focus its efforts on banning displays in the country’s airport duty-free shops.
