People have died from tobacco-related diseases since the opening of the first FCTC working group on 28 October 1999.
The budget of the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC) is the total projected cost of the Convention’s workplan. It is established at each regular session of the Conference of the Parties (COP) for the next two-year period (biennium)1. For example, the fourth session of the COP in November 2010 adopted a budget for the financial period 2012-2013.
At COP5, the Parties will review the interim performance report for the 2012-2013 workplan and budget as well as adopt a new workplan and budget for 2014-2015.
