FCA hands out billions of tobacco tax ‘dollars’
FCA staff and members are handing out ‘billion-dollar bills’ at the United Nations NCD Summit in New York this week.
The action is to point out that governments worldwide are neglecting the potential of tobacco taxes. It is now accepted that increasing the cost of tobacco products is the most effective way to reduce consumption.
It is also acknowledged that raising the level of tobacco taxation by just 1 per cent worldwide will increase revenue by at least US$1 billion.
